Here’s Bernie!

The 2016 wedding season started again last week, and it always amuses us that so many people think we have the winter months “off”. The winter months are exceptionally busy for us, planning the several hundred weddings we have ahead of us for the next season, as well as completely going through every one of our VWs to ensure they are mechanically perfect and looking exceptional. This winter we had the added excitement and challenge of preparing Bernie – and here he is.

Bernie joined the fleet in winter 2014, and we have spent a year having him completely & utterly restored….complete with coordinating curtains, cushions & keep sake bear (lovingly hand made by Blossom & Badger)

We hope that you agree with us, we think he looks absolutely beautiful!

The very first wedding that Bernie will be attending this year is, well, a secret!  So, we can’t yet say when & where he will be appearing, but we can’t wait to share wedding photos of Bernie with you soon.

Time for a makeover Bernie!

This week we said good-bye to Bernie as he goes off to Rapid Rodent Racing for his external makeover!

Bernie already looks absolutely stunning thanks to his superior hand crafted interior – thanks to his awesome re-fit by camper shak – so it’s just his exterior that needs sorting.

Having sat Bernie alongside the rest of the fleet over the last few weeks we’ve decided to have him re-sprayed in a more muted vintage blue, so that he tones better with the cream and vintage green vans…..so we have opted for a lighter blue, an original 1950s Mercedes paint colour, he’s going to look simply stunning!

Bernie the Bus!

December was a very exciting time for Pear Tree Weddings, not only did Father Christmas very kindly visit, but we also welcomed the arrival of Bernie, our 1966 split screen campervan!

We had been looking for a ‘new’ VW camper van for some months, as the rest of our VW wedding fleet is so busy – and when we saw Bernie we immediately fell in love again.  Bernie is in a little need of work on the outside, he will remain blue as it is such an amazingly popular wedding colour, however his interior is just gorgeous already! He will of course be treated to the Pear Tree Weddings soft furnishings make-over with curtains, cushions and curiosities!

We knew the minute we saw the internet pictures of Bernie that he was a rare gem – and oddly we recognised the interior……very similar to our fabulous vintage green and cream VW camper, Basil, and looked to be of superior quality, very similar to our Bay Window campervan, Flossy.  After a little investigation we were thrilled to discover that Bernie’s interior was recently refurbished by our friends & VW experts – CamperShak (who fabulously fitted Basil & Flossy!)basil doors open
